Our Saturday adventure was a ride on trains to Warlingham via Clapham with Sam. We went to her parents house, played the piano, checked out her selfbuild mandoline and went to a bizarre place called Beaver Waterworld.
Lizards, turtles, terrapins, tortoises, one aligator, snakes and a couple of beavers, Surrey country girls in high heels traipsing through the mud on the arms of tracksuit clad young men.
A perfect Saturday afternoon.

Marmorkuchen am Morgen, natürlich mit Kerzen und Singen. And a brilliant party im 'Cafe Ohne', hijacking the landlords birthday celebrations. Spanferkel, Cuba Libre, we even danced! What a laugh.
Not in the morning though. Children and grandmothers can be so cruel!
Marla loved playing with Lotti. They didn't quite start talking with one another. It would take a couple of weeks in Germany and Marla would get with it. She is trying out speaking German words more and more though.

So Uwe played a part in this a small theatre production 'Warten auf Guevara'. As my birthday treat I went to Basel by train to see it. Picturesque train journey to Freiburg, then Basel.
I spent a tense hour walking along the banks of the Rhine waiting for the play to start - my share of stage fright.
The play was charming, funny and nostalgic. They had a couple of mishaps, but I wouldn't have known. Uwe was fantastic and I was all proud and happy. We spend the night at his place in Freiburg and he came back to Munderkingen the next day. Marla and Leni were chuffed to bits.

Family autumn holiday to Germany. Cheap air tickets to Friedrichshafen to see Uwe in his play and spend some time with Heidi. Marla and Leni are good travel company. Although Leni had a nightcouff at the beginning and kept us awake quite a bit. I was very worn out by work and the childrens colds before we set off, we needed a break. And it was great.
