the party. They both had to have an extended nap.
On Wednesday my mum is going to come over from Germany. Exciting.
We are planning a ‘Leni Welcome Party’ for this coming weekend.

Happy Birthday Penny! It was a splendid teaparty. Scones, strawberries, tipple, vol-au-vents and lovely people. We stayed out until 11 pm [Leni was asleep by 8 though, after enjoying plenty of cuddles]. Marla had a wonderful time, sharing out the birthday cake [I MUST get the reciepe of Gabi], dancing, chatting and jumping. She bounced on the sofa next to me: ‘I'm laughing because I'm happy. I like all the the people, everybody is my friend.’ Bless!
Thanks for a great party.

She woke up the other morning whailing. She cried, she had hit her head and she couldn't move or walk anymore. She held her ear and neck. Doctor presribed antibiotic eardrops. A day of carrying her everywhere, supporting her neck all the time and frequent doses of paracetamol followed. She still wasn't any better the next morning. Another trip to the doctor. This time she was actually examined [hurray] - she screamed throughout. The doctor couldn't find anything wrong. We concluded that she was suffering from Acute torticollis (positional draughts). Well there. She had cought a draught when she was sleeping naked because of the heat. What a drama.
In the afternoon I teased her out of the buggy. ‘Mummi, look, I can stand all by myself - ...wayhey, I can jump, look Mummi! I can run really fast...’
And that was that.

There was Tigers birthday in their 'lobely' [as Marla would say], brandnew garden. Wonderfully chilled and funny. Pimms, Burgers, Benny Hill dancing, hot bums on the slide etc.
And there was fun at Lukes 3. birthday in Roundwood Park.

We've been soaking up summer the last couple of days. Queens Park yesterday, St. Marks Gardens and paddling pool today. Dana with Aysa and Jude, Emma with Dylan and Jude, and Seamus with Ben and Luke. Water, bikes, ice lollies, swings and sun.
furthermore:
- Success: Marla didn't even ask for her dummy anymore at bedtime.
- Zeichen und Wunder: Oma Heidi and her friend Inge will be coming over on the 23.July for a week.
- Apropos: Making eggy rice for Marla yesterday I had TWO yolks coming out of ONE egg. What does it all mean?
- And: Apricots are particularly tasty this time of the year.

Back to work

Unser lieber, süßer Spatz wird wieder 21. Wir wünschen Dir alles Liebe und, dass der Sommer ewig dauert. So wie früher.

Marla at 2 and 6 month. The dummy had to go today. We told her she was too grown up for it now, and it would ruin her beautiful teeth, if she continued having it. And, no she can't have it back just a little while for going to sleep, because the rubbish truck had taken it. And when I said that, it seemed so mean and horrible... She was too tired to put up a fight. I'm sure this wasn't the end of it yet.
I feel emotionally drained and tired and have to go to bed now.
Or maybe after Big Brother...

Classic. 2 adults, 2 children going camping in a Volvo to the New Forest, with visits to beaches and a go on the Noddy railway in Christchurch. Sun, wind and a little rain. No phone signal, no tv. We even got around to talk about our future over a glass of wine after the kids hit the airbeds.
Our first camping experiment with 2 kids proved to demand quite a bit of managment and sometimes hard work. Marla got very excited and became a bit of a handfull at times. Well worth it though. Lovely.
